About

When I was little, I wanted to be a ballerina. I imagined that ballerinas could fly through the air and that seemed to me the best way to be “free.” As a young girl, I would throw my arms out behind me — my wings — and race across the room in a “flying dance.”

As an adult, I learned the skills of many types of dance and practised ballet, jazz, tap and flamenco dance. I love all manner of movement — and experience the great freedom and spirit in the art of dance.

Now, it never fails to fascinate me when I watch those with ideal physiques perform. For the past twenty-five years, I have witnessed and written about dance of all kinds, presented by companies and soloists from all over the world. My dance columns and reviews have appeared in Dance in Canada magazine, the Edmonton Journal, and the Ottawa Citizen and my commentaries on dance have aired on CBC Radio One.
